Embedded Software Manager
Technical “hands on” software manager with a background in embedded systems, C and Linux to play a key role in the continuing global expansion of the company’s audio products by helping to coordinate overseas software development with the teams here in the UK. The software team of approximately 25 engineers is spread across three sites - the larger teams located in the UK & India and a smaller team in China.
The company has led the way in their specific technologies and continues to develop innovative products that lead the field. This is an opportunity to be part of that winning team.
Primary responsibilities:
- Communicate with the overseas engineers on a daily basis on a number of different projects
- Help solve any technical issues that are blocking project progress
- Take a hands-on approach to problem solving when required
- Attend regular project meetings in the UK to keep the local engineers in sync with the other offices
- Track project schedules and work with the software team leads to keep the delivery dates as accurate as possible
- Travel to the offices in China and India for short periods once or twice a year
Required Skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills to help them work with engineers throughout a multicultural company
- At least five years experience in an embedded software development role working with C and embedded Linux, ideally in an audio video environment
- An aptitude for problem solving is essential and an ability to guide other engineers towards a solution will be a key part of the role
Desirable Skills
- Consumer electronics, Radio, network protocols, Android, real-time operating systems, Java, previous dealings with remote teams.
