Embedded Software Engineer/ Consultant

Embedded Software Engineer position offering the opportunity to mix technical challenges with customer facing and project management tasks. We are looking for experienced embedded software engineers with a broad range of skills, excellent qualifications (MUST be top uni and A & B A levels) and experience working with customers (e.g. helping them to define requirements, supporting their developments or maybe a technical pre-sales, consultancy or applications engineer role?). The group is made up of around 100 staff which are mostly Electronic Engineers, Software engineers, Physicists and Applied Mathematicians who provide the expertise and domain knowledge to design, build and support custom hardware and software.

Position: Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Guildford, Surrey.
Salary: £30-50k

A number of customers are government agencies so only embedded software engineers who are British citizens and have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years can be considered.

Embedded software engineers must be able to design, develop, debug and deliver – they need motivated people who take on responsibility to meet and exceed client expectations. Suitable embedded software engineers will have experience in several of the following areas -
• C, C++ preferably in and embedded and/or real-time context;
• IP based communications protocols and networks; Routers, SDR, DSP, packet processing, VoIP, HTTP,
• Encryption and security;
• E-mail protocols/applications, HTTP;
• Telecommunications;
• Development and execution of test plans and procedures;
• Development of innovative solutions and technical 'white-papers' and accompanying commercial proposals;
• Project and programme management;
• Team leading and mentoring;
• Customer-facing delivery and business development.
