Test Infrastructure Team Lead - Cambridge to £54k

We want a Test Infrastructure Team Lead to provide a strategic vision of the test infrastructure required by this company across its many projects and then to provide a consistent test infrastructure system that will allow test teams to simply develop and run test suites.

This will involve the design, development and maintenance of test infrastructure software to support testing carried out by teams across the company. This will involve working closely with the hardware development groups for the hardware platform, various test leaders around the company for software test requirements and tools groups for some software development.

It is expected that the test infrastructure shall evolve and develop over a period of time, so this role also covers the maintenance of the infrastructure itself, testing and maintaining software configurations for roll out across existing hardware platforms.

The test infrastructure team shall take on additional people as required, and this role will be the team lead of the team as that expansion occurs.

• Design and develop the software architecture of automated test systems capable of testing embedded firmware and host software and complex interactions at the system level.
• Deliver test infrastructure to the various groups around the company ensuring consistent software configurations
• Manage the development and test of software work packages to an agreed timescale as required by chip development programmes or internal IP development plans
• Ensure that the relevant software development process is followed including documentation, software test development, defect tracking and release and installation of the test infrastructure software
• Provide regular reports to line management and project management both verbally and via written reports.
• Responsible for the line management of the team; career development, salary, grading and resource allocation and recruitment
• Task definition and work breakdown including time estimation.

• Ability to direct innovative technical solutions beyond the current common understanding
• Good understanding of design methods and approaches and technical solutions
• Expertise in several software languages and scripting languages (for example C, C++, tcl, Perl, Python)
• Good understanding of embedded, desktop, mobile and other device software architectures
• A degree or equivalent qualification
• Operates without supervision in a complex environment
• Ability to share own expertise and provide guidance and support to others
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other technical staff throughout the organisation

This role is based in Cambridge and pays up to £54k + benefits
