Junior Embedded Software Engineer

This role is suitable for a Junior Embedded Software Engineer or recent graduate looking for an opportunity to work with a highly motivated team responsible for the design, operational effectiveness and availability of a large distributed server based system including the development of new features for the system, its associated tools and processes.

We are looking for an additional junior embedded software engineer to a play key role in the operational management and development of this business critical system. The importance of which cannot be overstated.

This is a great role for a junior embedded software engineer or recent graduate looking to expand their skills across a range of technologies. More important than experience, are strong problem solving and multitasking skills, as well an ability to quickly pick up new languages and technologies.

Mandatory skills and experience
• Ability to quickly understand complex technical issues, dive into the detail as required, questioning and challenging appropriately.
• Proven ability to quickly come up to speed with new technologies and languages.
• Proven problem solving skills.
• Demonstrable ability to write well designed and structured code.
• A working knowledge of C
• Technical degree level qualification from a well ranked University
• All candidates must have an interest in complex software systems found in the broadcast/telecoms/networks/ embedded arenas (as opposed to those of a web oriented/IT nature). Experienced candidates should offer relevant commercial experience.

Desirable skills and experience
• SQL databases
• PHP/Perl.
• Experience with Linux both on Servers and in Embedded Systems.
• Working knowledge of Version Control Tools, preferably Rational ClearCase
• Experience in a DVB, broadcast, telecoms or embedded systems industry would be a benefit
